Who is Christie Hayes?

“Growing up I was inspired by my father who was an MGM pioneer for over 30 years and introduced me to the world of motion pictures, musicals & acting.  My father met my mother, who grew up in North Hollywood working as an actress, was very inspirational to me. They met at Universal studios where she worked with Donald O’Conner, Rock Hudson, Frank  Sinatra & many many more.  I was very active in stage productions and learned all I could about making movies while growing up back then.  I started writing music and playing guitar at 16 and went on from there dreaming of singing professionally and my dream came true.”

Self produced and as a budding publisher got her 1st original song “Should I Believe” placed on the TV Series “Higher Ground” Staring Joe Lando, syndicated and aired in the USA & Canada on The Fox Family Channel and others.

Spent most of her time as an actor/singer did a beach scene in Bud Cort’s “1991” film Ted & Venus starring James Brolin & Bud Cort.

Christie Hayes has been performing selling her own recordings for audiences for 12+ years plus as the Lead Singer for the band Hayesland which was known for opening for several National acts such as The Counting Crows, Berlin , John Waite, Great White, Rita Coolidge, Robin Trower, The Wallflowers & more.  She currently receives her songwriting influence and help from her friend Alan Parsons and Manager/producer Paul Dewitt.

This is who Christie Hayes is Now

A vocalist capable of singing many styles (rock, pop, alternative, even show tunes), but one who loves singing her                        original pop-rock songs the most.
Someone with an extensive set list of original versions of cover tunes and original music.
Her band Hayesland had two previous releases that sold well without any distribution deal, strengthening her online                         marketing skills and sales directly at her concerts.
A Songwriter of not only pop-rock but other genres’ for other artists.
A Publisher who has ears to know what’s current, memorable, and where it fits in film & tv.

People still request who wrote the song shown on the Youtube video Should I Believe, from the TV Series "Higher Ground".  Since many of her songs have now been merged into the Dewittian Music Publishing catalog we have put them in a seperate section containing versions of with and without vocals for more film and tv use.  For those looking here's the link to Should I Believe:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbAE1CBTDhw

More details : PAUL DEWITT

Professionally it all started at age fifteen (1972) when Paul, through his innate marketing skills and bizarre promotional stunts, landed record deal, manager, booking, and publishing contracts with independent labels and companies for the band Osiris.

Though the band stayed booked at about 100 shows per year, this was not enough for Paul.  By working with a friend who worked for Don Kershner's 'In Concert' (late night T.V. concert show) Paul learned the art of marketing.  He booked and promoted independent concerts for his band that provided more exposure and made more money for them than his booking agency could at their regular shows.

After 7 years and some five to FIVE HUNDRED shows the Windi Records went belly up.  Bad investments and increasingly tough competition from the major labels in the early 1980's, caused most the independents to either be swallowed up or out bank-rolled.

Soon following the bands break up Paul began his journey into becoming a record producer.  Paul added to his classical music education by attending the audio engineering department at Golden West College.  At the same time he spent many free hours in well known 24 track studios in Hollywood recording projects with other full time working engineers, when the studios weren't  booked (usually midnight to eight A.M.).  He served as a producer/teacher at University of Sound Arts in Hollywood for two years.  Finally wisdom took over and Paul began to buy his own recording equipment and for the next 10 years he built Dewitt Productions into a large multi-track MIDI studio in his home in Hollywood.

However Paul never completely left his marketing skills.  From 1990 to 1993 Paul became know as a marketing consultant as well.  For about half the rate most attorneys charged he helped many artists understand the contractual and legal end of the music business.  Also, as part of his consulting services he developed marketing plans for artists, prepared financial proposals, developed radio promotional strategies and taught classes on how to get into the music business at a local law school.  He finished his first solo the album in 1986, called ‘Buzz Words’ that has now been re-mastered.  Along with his release last year of the ambient album ‘Giant Dewittian Chill Pill”.  Both are still for sale on Itunes, Amazon and CD Baby.

Paul even spent time writing a column for international music magazine 'Cash Box' as the Alternative Rock to Pop marketing "expert".

So there you have it.  A simple definition of Paul Dewitt would be that he is a guitarist, bassist, keyboards, song writer, audio engineer, producer, promotional marketing consultant, computer man.

Well enough of my rambling.  If you'd like more info on Paul just scroll down to what the Hollywood press had to say about him.
